Breastfeeding Awareness and Empowerment (BAE) is an organization that integrates reproductive justice and trauma-informed care to provide community-based lactation support. The program model also addresses perinatal mental health; a key component of perinatal health that is often treated separately and left unaddressed by current lactation support models. Additionally, our unique design specifically centers marginalized communities and honors everyone’s ability to make the best decisions to nourish their families. By raising awareness and creating spaces for breastfeeding empowerment, it is our goal to eliminate disparities and promote a lasting, multigenerational culture of health.
